Philippine Air Force Aerospace Museum, Pasay

Museum is about 10 minutes walk from the International Terminal 3. Given you need to leave plenty of time between flites in Manila (sometimes overnighting) this museum can be a handy time filler? The large building is pretty much empty with some dusty old poorly curated knick-knack and displays etc and takes about 30 minutes to walk around at best. Better is the small airplane park outback with 4 themed circles of 1. trainers, 2 transports, 3 helicopters and 4. the jets that nicely shows the full history combat planes with the initial jet F86 fighters plus T33 trainers and then the added all weather/night capability of radar fitted F86D. Then there is the sleek lines of the F5 replacing the F86s plus some additional capability that came with the big ugly V8 Crusaders. Maybe take an hour to walk around the plan park?. Fighters all recently refurbished and the transports currently being done up so nice to see it being preserved. Note the site looks closed from the front entrance off the road so you come in through the airbase entrance to get access for free. The Aerospace museum presents the history of the Philippine Air Force since its inception during the time of the Philippine Army Air Corps in the 1920s. The museum houses exhibits regarding the important milestones in the Philippine Air Force as well as important battles that the PAF has participated on. The garden of the museum houses several historical aircraft used by the PAF through the years. I went there with my la...

Indian Air Force Museum (New Delhi)

A very interesting collection of historic aircraft, artifacts, and pictures portraying the history of the Indian Air Force. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit once I was allowed in. I am an airline captain for a major US airline, and also a sincere aviation enthusiast that seeks places like this on my layovers around the world. Foreign visitors beware - the museum will not admit you if you do not have a passport in hand. Nowhere on the website for this venue do they make this fact obviously known. The military officer at the front entrance was not friendly and welcoming. Tried to explain that I had just taken a cab from my hotel to get to the museum. I subsequently took a cab back to the hotel and returned with my passport. After doing so I was admitted. I have not experienced this contingency at any other venues in India. It was very frustrating, and was a waste of time. Overall a nice little step back in aviation history - but the military staff curating the museum has a long way to go in making foreign visitors feel welcome. Exhibits are in extremely poor condition - canopies painted over, missing tyres and engines, most aircraft stuffed in a small hangar, zero interactive activities or A/V shows for either kids or adults - any aviation aficionado will be heartbroken. I have visited many other AF museums across the world including SLAF near Colombo and this unfortunately ranks extremely poor compared to others. Even the old INS Vikrant and its exhibits were in way better shape...
