Two Die In Accident

Indore: Two men, riding a motorcycle, were found dead in Dwarikapuri police station area late on Sunday night. Police believe they died in a road accident, but were not clear about the nature of the mishap. The deceased were identified as Rakesh, 28 and Somesh Heere, 27. Both were residents of Pithampur, police said. The incident took place when they were riding on a two-wheeler, police said. Dwarikapuri police station in-charge Alka Meena said, “The police got information about the incident late night. The reason of death is uncertain yet.” “The body is handed over to family members, who were contacted with mobile phones of injured,” added Meena. TNN

Indore temple stepwell collapse: Death toll rises to 35, 14 others rescued

The death toll in the "A total of 35 people died, one missing and 14 people have been rescued. Two people returned home safely after getting treatment. "An ex-gratia amount of ₹5 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the deceased while ₹50,000 will be given to the injured," Mr. Chouhan told reporters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Chouhan to take stock of the situation. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, "Extremely pained by the mishap in Indore. Spoke to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and took an update on the situation. The State Government is spearheading rescue and relief work at a quick pace. My prayers are with all those affected and their families."

4 killed, 20 injured after bus overturns in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar

Four persons, including a woman, were killed and more than 20 others injured when a speeding bus overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on February 18 morning, an official said. Of the injured, three are critical, he said. The accident occurred at Niwar Ghati on Sagar-Chhatarpur Road, some 70 km from the district headquarters, under Chhanbila police station limits around 6 a.m., Superintendent of Police (SP) Tarun Nayak said. The SP said the Indore-Chhatarpur passenger bus overturned in which four persons were killed and more than 20 injured. Three critically injured passengers have been sent to Sagar district hospital, he said. The deceased are yet to be identified, he added. Indore: A 48-year-old man and his five-year-old nephew were killed and his daughter and another nephew seriously injured when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding car late night on Saturday. The victim Sandeep Gupta, a trader of namkeen, was going to an ice cream parlour near Zanjeerwala square with his daughter and his younger brother’s two children, when their vehicle was hit by a speeding car coming from the opposite direction. The police said that car driver Ajit Lalwani, 68, who is a steel businessman, was in an inebriated condition and tried to flee the spot but was nabbed by the locals and handed over to the police. He was, however, allowed to leave after medical examination. The police said that they were yet to record statements of family members following which an FIR would be registered under culpable homicide not amounting to murder and under drunk driving sections. A witness to the accident, Shobhit, said that the accused was so drunk that he could not even stand properly. The police said that Sandeep Gupta lived in a joint family at Roshan Singh Bhandari Marg. They had a routine of going to the ice cream parlour. A pall of gloom descended on the family members who carried out the final rites. The deceased trader has two daughters – Miska, who was injured in the accident and Pari, who is a college student. Advik was a nursery student in Shri Ram Continental school.

By Ravish Pal Singh: Fourteen people lost their lives and several were rescued after the floor covering a well at a temple in Indore caved in while Ram Navami celebrations were underway on Thursday. The incident was reported from the Shri Baleshwar temple in the Sneh Nagar area of the city. Several videos following the incident showed chaos and rescue operations at the temple. Speaking to reporters, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narrotam Mishra said that 14 people were killed in the mishap. 12 bodies have been recovered from the spot while 19 were rescued. Among the rescued people, two people succumbed to injuries. According to the information received by India Today, the covering of the well collapsed while worshippers were standing over it inside the temple. Efforts were on to rescue those still trapped inside the well. Eyewitnesses said around two dozen people were standing on the step well at the time of the incident. Locals said ambulances and fire brigade services did not reach the spot in time. AUTHORITIES EXPEDITE RESCUE OPS Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was informed of the incident, following which he directed authorities to expedite the rescue operations at the temple. Indore: The death toll in Indore temple stepwell collapse has increased to 35 on Friday morning as the search operation to trace persons reported missing after the tragic incident was on. Several people fell into a well as roof of Shri Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple caved in during Ram Navami celebration in the He added, "The administration had to face a lot of trouble in the rescue operation. The accident occurred due to the collapse of the roof over the well. During the hawan, more than 50 people fell into the well. Out of which 35 people have died. Most of the people belongs to the same family. Many children are also involved in the accident." The accident took place when devotees were sitting on the floor during hawan at the temple. Under the floor was a Bawadi (stepwell). The cement seal of the stepwell collapsed and devotees fell into the well. The old well was covered with a concrete slab in the courtyard of Lord Shiva temple in Patel Nagar. The concrete caved in due to load as a huge number of devotees turned up at the temple, Bhanwarkuan police said. The victims fell into the water and clung to the hanging debris of the concrete and iron mesh to save themselves.
