Lumpy skin disease virus Lumpy skin disease ( LSD) is an infectious disease in cattle caused by a Neethling virus. The disease is characterized by large fever, enlarged superficial lymph nodes and multiple nodules (measuring 2–5 centimetres (1–2in) in diameter) on the skin and mucous membranes (including those of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts). Onset of fever occurs almost one week after infection by the virus. This initial fever may exceed 41°C (106°F) and persist for one week. कुलदीप नेगी/देहरादून: उत्तराखंड में लंपी स्किन डिजीज के मामले लगातार बढ़ते ही जा रहे हैं. पशुओं में लंपी स्किन डिजीज के करीब 19404 मामले अब तक सामने आ चुके हैं. इनमें अब तक 17904 पशु ठीक हो चुके हैं. 321 पशुओं की मौत भी हुई है. इसके अलावा 23,5732 पशुओं का टीकाकरण भी हुआ है. मंगलवार को प्रदेश में लंपी स्किन डिजीज के 2005 मामले सामने आए हैं. टीकाकरण से रोग का नियंत्रण इस वायरस के संक्रमण को नियंत्रित करने के लिए पशुपालन विभाग ने चार लाख गोटपॉक्स वैक्सीन का ऑर्डर भेजा है. पहाड़ी इलाके में पशुओं का टीकाकरण किया जा रहा है. प्रदेश में अब तक 209 पशुओं की इस बीमारी से मौत हुई है. कैपरीपॉक्स वायरस पॉक्सविरिडाए फैमिली का कॉर्डोपॉक्सविर्नी जीनस वायरस है. वायरस के बायोलॉजिकल कटेगरी के लिए जीनस शब्द उपयोग में लाया जाता है. विशेषज्ञों के मुताबिक जीनस में तीन प्रजातियां शीप पॉक्स, गोट पॉक्स और लंपी स्किन वायरस हैं. यह भी पढ़ें: Uttarakhand Cabinet reshuffle: धामी कैबिनेट में फेरबदल के कयास, इन नामों पर चर्चा ये हैं लंपी बीमारी के लक्षण इस वायरस की चपेट में आते ही पशुओं की त्वचा पर दाग पड़ जाते हैं. यह धीरे-धीरे इतनी लाल हो जाती है कि फिर उनमें मवाद भर जाता है. यह जख्म धीरे-धीरे रक्त स्राव की वजह बन जाता है. महीने भर के भीतर लंपी वायरस से पीड़ित जानवरों में यह वायरस लार, नाक के स्राव और दूध में भी पाया जा सकता है. इसके अलावा पशुओं की लसीका ग्रंथियों में सूजन आना, बुखार आना, अत्यधिक लार आना और आंख आना इस वायरस के अन्य लक्षण हैं. उत्तर प्रदेश और उत्तराखंड के साथ ही देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सों में लंपी वायरस लगातार अपना पैर पसार रहा है. राजस्थान में इसका सबसे अधिक कहर देखने को मिल रहा है.
