Hyderabad: Strict implementation of traffic rules for behavioural change, says police

Hyderabad: Joint commissioner of police and traffic, AV Ranganath on Monday denied social media reports that special traffic drives in the city were conducted to shore up government revenue. “Strict implementation of the rules now is aimed at bringing about a behavioural change in vehicle users, and thus making city roads safe and convenient for everyone,” said Ranganath. It was the same day the traffic authority started its new drive, against wrong-side driving and triple riding. The violations attract a fine of Rs 1,700 and Rs 1,200 respectively. Ranganath further instructed the officials of the traffic wing to develop standard procedures to deal with signalling and communication, engineering interventions, e-challan discrepancies, overloading of vehicles, and entry of heavy vehicles, and discussed the recently launched ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking & Encroachments), free-left and stop-line drive, while reviewing various issues concerning traffic in the commissionerate limits of Rachakonda, Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

Hyderabad Traffic Police holds safety awareness drive for school students

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police on Monday visited various schools in the city to create Hyderabad Additional Commissioner (Traffic) G Sudheer Babu instructed all Station House Officers to visit schools in their area and welcome children on the first day of the new academic year. He instructed field officers to interact with children and their parents and enlighten them about safety aspects in the travelling between home and school. The core intention of this ‘Greet a Child’ initiative was to instill road safety awareness among children, who are the future of this country. “If we teach about road safety in their childhood, they would never break the rules when they became adults and would also urge their parents to follow traffic rules.” Sudheer Babu devised plans to reach out the students and groom them in the lines of road safety perspective so that they will become responsible citizens of the country. Hyderabad Traffic Police will conduct a meeting with management, parents, stakeholders, students and Government agencies in the coming days for better coordination and for safe commuting of the children. Hyderabad: Traffic advisory for NIMS Hospital event today

Hyderabad: Hyderabad city traffic police issued a traffic advisory in view of programmes at NIMS Hospital in Punjagutta and due to the visiting of VVIPS there would be moderate traffic congestion in Punjagutta from 10am to 3pm. According to police, the commuters are requested to avoid the stretches Panjagutta, Green Lands, Monappa, Rajbhavan Road, VV Statue, KCP Junction, NIMS, Punjagutta, Punjagutta, NFCL, NIMS Back Gate, Taj Krishna, KCP Junction. The Junctions including Green Lands, Monappa, Punjagutta, NFCL Junction, Taj Krishna Junction, KCP Junction, VV Statue (Khairtabad) Junction and Raj Bhavan Metro Junction would be affected.
