Wrestlers protest: Nirbhaya's mother demands probe into why minor recorded second statement

"There should be a probe into why the minor girl changed her statement, whether she was pressured by anyone," said Asha Devi while speaking with India Today TV. The second statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC. ALSO READ | Despite the father's statement that sexual harassment charges have been withdrawn, there is no evidence to suggest what the minor recorded in her second statement. The statement of a victim in a sexual offence case, particularly under the Pocso Act, is kept sealed and completely confidential, as per the procedure. The contents of the statement cannot be placed in the public domain. Asha Devi spoke in support of the protesting wrestlers and said if an investigation is not conducted properly into the allegations, and they do not get justice, it would be a "blot on our justice system". She also said "politics" in the case has made the protesting wrestlers "suffer even more" and called for Brij Bhushan Singh's arrest. ALSO READ | Nirbhaya's mother also said the case is "sending out a wrong message".
