2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Review [11 Fast Facts]

The new 2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a $3999 shot across the bow of competitors offering affordable urban transportation. The Hunter is the third model in Royal Enfield’s 350 range, joining the Meteor cruiser and the 1950s-styled Classic. The new Hunter brings a touch of styling modernity to the tradition-infused India-based brand. We took to the busy streets of San Diego to find out how slick it is in the city, and even ventured out into the nearby hinterlands to carve up some canyons. • Small displacement motorcycles are a fun way to traverse cityscapes, and the torquey Hunter adds power to the equation. With a price under $4k, you expect to be riding a 125cc motorcycle. Eighth-liter motors put freeways off limits, and you have to be hard on the throttle at every stoplight to avoid getting overrun by Teslas. The Hunter’s 20 ft-lbs of torque at an easily attained 4000 rpm moves the 400-pound motorcycle along nicely on city streets, thanks to a smooth throttle response. The broad powerband means the 350cc motor can get by ably with a five-speed transmission. • Twenty horses are available at 6100 rpm, giving you a fighting chance on freeways. Top speed on the SOHC air-cooled Hunter 350 is around 80 mph, depending on conditions, with sluggish acceleration above 65 mph. If you’re thinking a sixth speed would help on the freeway, it won’t unless it’s downhill. Often, you’ll find yourself in fourth gear to get the highest speed possible, as the motor won’t pull fifth in a s...

I’m doing my best to dodge the tuk-tuks, questionable-looking ‘ladies’ and entire families as they ride 4-up on shitbox PCX 125 clones. Sid Lal, owner and MD of Royal Enfield is riding next to me and we still have two hours of this ahead of us. The waft of street food fills my lid and stings my eyes. I'm amazed that I’ve not ran over a stray dog yet. As launch experiences go, this has to be the most insane press rides I’ve ever taken part in. And you might be wondering why Royal Enfield had shipped us halfway across the world to Bangkok to try out what is likely to be a £4,000 motorcycle – and to be honest, so was I. The Hunter 350 though is a slightly different proposition to the rest of the brands offerings. It’s not looking to tap into the pipe smoking, tweed wearing customer base like the Classic 350 is. The Hunter is a youthful bike that belongs in the city, and there is no city more complex or vibrant as Bangkok! To find out more about the new bike’s specs features and details, cast your eyes down the page for a full rundown. To find out what the new bike is like to ride, read on. UPDATED | Royal Enfield Hunter 350 UK pricing announced It’s taken a long time to get hold of, but the pricing for the new 2023 Royal Enfield hunter 350 is FINALLY known! It seems like an age ago that we were buzzing around Bangkok on the characterful retro, and while we got an idea of the pricing at the event – the pricing for India and Asia was known then – we’ve had to wait nearly two mo...

2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Review

My toxic trait—or, well, one of the many at any rate—is that when I buy a product I expect a level of quality in that product commensurate with its price. As you can imagine, in this day and age I spend a lot of my time disappointed. What if I told you, however, that I recently rode a bike with one of the best cost-to-value ratios I think I've ever ridden? In fact, probably one of the best cost-to-value ratios on the market today. What if I then told you that it was a Royal Enfield—specifically Enfield's new Hunter 350? Well, I did and it was and I'm here to tell you all about it. Now, we already covered the Enfield threw the North American launch party for the Hunter 350 in San Diego, California. Now, I've been through San Diego a bunch of times but had never been to the city proper. Thankfully, Enfield flew me in pretty early in the day so I had enough time to do some sightseeing and touristy stuff before the launch party. I spent the afternoon touring the A Deal At Twice The Price Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Cracks 50,000 Bikes Sold In First Three Months The launch party was held at a cool, mid-century hotel complex outside of downtown San Diego called the Town and Country Resort. My colleagues and I milled about enjoying the open bar, snacking on some very respectable cheese, and enjoying the late spring evening. A collection of Hunter 350s in each available colorway was arrayed around a big screen that promised big news at the presentation. Most of us had already seen th...

2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350

New to the Royal Enfield lineup is the 2023 Hunter 350, a light, affordable roadster designed to navigate the city streets. (Photos by Brandon Bunch and Josh Shipps) The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is an urban prowler, designed to explore the concrete jungle with grace and agility. We tested this new roadster in and around San Diego to see if it truly excels in the city as intended and if it has enough mojo to keep pace out of town as well. Royal Enfield has been in continuous production since 1901, and the brand excels in the small- to mid-sized motorcycle segment. It also excels in honoring its British heritage with a classic-meets-modern aesthetic, making for motorcycles that catch your eye and take you back to simpler times. The Hunter 350 might be small for American standards, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a blast to ride. While Royal Enfields are plentiful in India, where the bikes are produced and smaller-displacement bikes are the norm rather than the exception, the brand has been making strong headway in North America the past few years as well. Ron Luttrell, VP of sales and dealer development, reported that Royal Enfield has seen a 317% growth in U.S. sales since 2019 and that they’ve recently reached their goal of 10,000 units sold in North America. Not too shabby. With the introduction of the Hunter 350, it’s clear Royal Enfield is looking to hold onto that forward momentum. Royal Enfield is known for its retro-inspired aesthetic, and the Hunter 350 fits that bra...

2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Review

Being a motorcycle publication, Also, let’s not forget the multitudes of other motorcycle-curious folks who never transitioned into the rider fold for one reason or another. In the not-so-distant past, beginner-friendly bikes were called entry-level motorcycles, which sounds about as exciting as motorcycle training wheels. The more current means of breaking down motorcycle displacements into lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight categories feels a little less loaded, not to mention that manufacturers are making some legitimately nice lightweights that look and feel like they got the same level of development attention as their larger, more expensive brethren. The 2023 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a prime example of an attractive, functional, and reasonably-priced motorcycle that could help turn more potential riders into enthusiasts. And the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is reasonably priced. With a base MSRP of $3,999, the bike is certainly inexpensive when compared to other lightweight models and is within easy reach of people (such as college students) who might typically look at a scooter for practical, low-priced transportation. The first step to creating more motorcycle enthusiasts is getting these people on motorcycles so that they can fall in love with the sport. And that’s the simple truth about motorcycling, it’s a sport that inspires passion. Once you’ve had some time on motorcycles, it can easily become an activity that you build your life around, as we here at ...

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Arrives In US To Help You Deal With Traffic

If you’re a US-based rider who’s patiently been waiting for the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 to make it to our shores, we have great news for you. On April 20, 2023, the OEM officially released the nimble little 350 in America at last. Here are all the details, including pricing information—but we must mention right at the top, we’re talking mini moto pricing for a full-sized bike here. As we were informed during A nice, tidy instrument cluster graces the front of the Hunter, with a digital-analog display in the main pod and the possibility for Tripper Navigation in the side pod. There’s a USB port to charge your smartphone while you’re out riding, although there are no cubbies in which to hide your phone away, so you’ll need to get yourself some kind of phone mount or holder to use it. One nice thing that Enfield strangely doesn’t call out is its use of braided stainless steel brake lines on its 350s, but I’ll always mention it because I think it’s cool, and I wish more OEMs made such a simple change. Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Goes Retro Endurance Racer Seat height is 790mm, or just over 31 inches—and it’s also super narrow, so even a rider with short legs (like me) can easily throw a leg over and feel confident right away. The ergonomics are relaxed, yet alert—which is kind of how you want to ride in busy stop-and-go traffic situations, anyway. In the US market, the Hunter 350 comes in the following colorways: Dapper White, Dapper Ash, Dapper Grey, Rebel Black, Rebel ...
