Chaitra Navratri also has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. These Navratri’s are also called Ram Navratri. According to mythology, Lord Rama first ascended to Lanka by worshipping Goddess Durga on the beach. Worshipping nine different forms of Maa Durga on the nine days of Navratri fulfils all the wishes and the blessings of the mother always remain on her devotees. It is also said that Lord Brahma himself had told Jupiter the importance of Chaitra Navratri. In Maharashtra, Chaitra Navratri begins with Gudi Padwa and in Andhra Pradesh, it begins with Ugadi. As the name suggests, Chaitra Navratri is observed in Chaitra Maas, the first month per the Hindu Lunar calendar. This nine-day-long festival commences after Phalguna Amavasya (as per the Amavasyant calendar) or Chaitra Amavasya (as per the Purnimant calendar).
