BEGINNER INSTRUCTION & PRACTICE Class will be held on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 10:30 am or Tuesdays from 5:30pm - 6:00pm for five consecutive weeks. Level 1 ~ Introductory Skate • Basic forward skating • Starting and Stopping • Balancing on one foot and skate safety • Stand up/sit down • T-stops and positions Level 2 ~ Novice • Forward and backward skating • Balancing on one foot in multiple positions • Forward Crosses and Introduction to very simple "jumps" and "spins" Level 3 ~ Intermediate Tuesdays 5:00 - 5:30pm • Basic dance skating steps • Turning between forward and backward skating • 2 foot spin • Generating maximum speed from pushes and mastering balance Level 4 ~ Advanced Skaters Tuesdays 5:00 - 5:30pm • Edges • Spread eagles • One foot spins • One foot jumps • One foot turns • Backward foot jumps • Pulls and cross pulls ** Skaters will be promoted to next level at teachers discretion. LEARN TO SKATE AT PEAKS ICE ARENA IN PROVO Group skating classes are available for skaters aged 3 to adult! The next session of classes will begin July 31 and run through August 12. This upcoming session is an accelerated program which means we’ll be meeting 4x per week for 2 weeks: 8 classes for the price of 7. The cost is $80 per skater for those 2 weeks. Classes are held 6-6:30pm Monday through Thursday. The $80 cost includes ice time for 8 classes, skate rental for 8 classes, and instruction for 8 classes. Classes are offered year-round but usually run 1x/week for 7 weeks. There are no discounts for multiple skaters in the same family. Registration for the Accelerated August Session is open July 1st. Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center has the largest Learn to Skate program in the greater Houston area. Graduates from our program have gone on to compete nationally, internationally and at the Olympics. We proudly teach the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. The Learn to Skate program runs year-round without interruption. You can always enroll and join into classes that are underway. Beginners start at "Snowplow Sam 1" for those 4-5 years old. Those 6 years of age or older start with "Basic 1".
