After a washout on Sunday (May 28), the IPL 2023 final kicked off on the reserve day on Monday evening (May 29) in Ahmedabad. After the game was forced into a reserve day, the game saw another two hour delay and finished at 1:30 AM local time, despite CSK's chase being reduced to a 15-over affair. By the time the presentation ceremony finished and MS Dhoni got his hands on the elusive trophy, the clock had ticked past 3 a.m. IST. "It was crazy. A number of the players missed their flights. Moeen Ali and family postponed their travel by a day. Eric Simons [bowling consultant] cancelled his flight. Dwaine Pretorius also missed his flight; only his family somehow managed to get there in time. We all sat around in the team room and celebrated till about 9am in the morning, soaking in the highs and lows. MS Dhoni was right in the middle of it all.
